HOW TO

Clean

You can use just water to clean SURIMACCA inks because they are water-based.
They set and become waterproof once dried, so clean right away after working.

Clean Screen

1Collect remaining ink

Collect leftover ink on the screen. You can reuse the ink, unless it is dry and hard. Do not put dried ink back in a bottle to avoid clogging the screen.

Chunks of ink might clog the drainage pipe. Wrap the ink with newspaper and throw it away to minimize the amount that goes down the drain. Let it dissolve slowly into water when washing down.

2Wash using gentle strokes

Wet the whole screen with water. Once it has been soaked, stroke gently with waste cloths or soft sponges. You only need gentle pressure. The screen might get scratched off or loosened if you scrub too hard, so be gentle when cleaning.

*Melamine sponge scratches screens off. Please do not use them.
*You cannot clean oil-based inks with only water.

3Wipe water In between

Due to the structure of SURIMACCA, water can flow into the gaps between the frame and the screen, so press a piece of cloth against the screen to absorb and wipe off the moisture.

Press gently with the cloth, as too much pressure may cause the screen to loosen.

4Let It dry

You are done once the water is wiped and the screen is dried. Using a hair dryer makes the process faster. Keep some distance between the screen and the hair dryer while drying, as the heat might damage the screen if it is too close.

Please note that leaving it wet damages the SURIMACCA and the screen. Keep out of direct sunlight.

Take Screen Off

1Collect remaining ink

2Remove the rubber cords and throw away the screen

Push hard on the edge of the screen and loosen it. Keep the rubber cords and reuse them. Be careful not to throw them away with the screen as they often get stuck to it. Throw away the screen as burnable garbage.

Wipe the ink off SURIMACCA, dissassemble and put it away.
